In June of this year, the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the national water Resources Management project, announced a competition on the topic "Effective use of water for irrigation of agricultural crops in household plots", dedicated to October 15 – the International Day of Rural Women. The competition, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, was attended by more than 100 women from different regions of the country.
They sent to the jury of the competition their proposals, the work done in a photo or video on saving water on the plot, the use of economical and innovative irrigation methods.
The judges fairly reviewed all the cases and identified more than 30 winners and prize-winners in various categories.
- Traveling in Uzbekistan, I have visited many places. I have observed the life and working conditions of Uzbek rural women, - says Ms. Gebel-Bash Rachel, representative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Uzbekistan. - Their work in agriculture and water management of the country deserves praise. I was particularly impressed by how women in rural areas use water-saving methods in their household. I hope that it is women who will continue to actively participate in the reforms on the widespread use of water-saving technologies.
I take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on the International Day of Rural Women.
At the event, the winners of the competition were presented with gifts.
